Adamson Takes Golds for Missouri Lottery

Adamson received gold awards in two categories and was a finalist in a third category, in an advertising awards program at the 2008 North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) conference in Philadelphia. Adamson was recognized for advertising created for the Missouri Lottery.

Winning the gold award in the Best Television Campaign category was the 'Call of Viper' campaign for the 2008 Missouri Lottery Scratchers Dodge Viper give-away.

Adamson's creative team developed a pro wrestler character, "Viper." The promotion's broadcast ads, which included TV spots, featured the Viper character. Playing on the fact that people often tease friends or family members about the old cars they drive, Viper encouraged audience members to arrange for him call their friends, joke about their old cars and suggest that they try to win a Dodge Viper from the Lottery. A promotion Web site referenced in the spots allowed visitors to arrange calls from Viper to their favorite clunker-drivers. The calls included information on how to enter to win one of three Dodge Vipers or several smaller prizes being given away by the Lottery from April-June 2008. By submitting $10 worth of eligible non-winning Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets, players became eligible to win.

Adamson's "Island of Messed Up Gifts" 2007 holiday campaign for Missouri Lottery Scratchers took the agency's second gold award at the NASPL conference, in the category of Best Television Spot for Instant Games. The spot featured down-on-their-luck characters such as Tacky Coffee Mug, Hideous Tie and Frog-Shaped Soap Dispenser, discussing how Lottery Scratchers tickets replaced them as popular gifts.

The animation for the spots was by Portland, Oregon-based LAIKA. A video game designed and developed by Adamson creative team members featured the same concept. The game appeared on the Lottery Web site and was e-mailed to the Lottery’s database of 160,000 frequent players.

The NASPL award category of Best TV Spot Under $25,000 named Adamson's 2007-08 "Raffle/Lost" ad among the category finalists. In the spot, a sad-eyed office worker copies "lost" fliers and begins posting them along the street, drawing attention to the lost opportunity to purchase tickets in the Lottery's Million-Dollar Raffle game. Tickets were rapidly selling out as the spot aired.

Headquartered in Geneva, Ohio, the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries has a membership of more than 50 state and provincial lotteries. The organization was established in 1971.
